Weezer – Represent : Film Clip Of The Week

Most hard-core soccer fans during the time of the world cup will don the appropriate gear, get up at the most inhospitable hours of the morning and occasionally partake in acts of violent mob-related thuggery. This, as you may be aware, is in a bid to further their countries chances of winning the elusive world cup. Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, however, has gone one step further, putting pen to paper and thrashing out a corny 4 minute calamityof a song in order to help the US team make as much as possible.

Rivers REALLY likes soccer!

Watch Out For

Perhaps calamity is a bit harsh, but there isn’t really anything beyond the novel value of a rock song based entirely on the US soccer team, (and the fact that it was written by Rivers Cuomo) that endears it to the listeners ears. The corniness of it even makes you wonder whether Rivers is perhaps pulling our legs with his highly patriotic tribute.

Either way, however, Represent is definitely worth a quick look, even if it’s to say that you wish you hadn’t seen it once you’re done!
