Melbourne is currently trying to survive a wave of Tim Burton fever (which is in no way related to Justin Bieber fever, or Swine Flu… so says “science” anyway) with the cult director rolling into town this week to officially open ACMI’s amazing new Tim Burton : The Exhibition.

The exhibition follows the course of Burton’s career, with childhood ephemera and amateur short films from his youth in Burbank, California; cartoons and drawings from his time at California Institute of the Arts; and examples of his first professional work at The Walt Disney Studios. Take a look below [YouTube Clip available for those outside of Australia] :

It’s a truly amazing exhibition, with literally hundreds of artefacts, sketches and toys from the likes of Vincent (1982), Frankenweenie (1984), Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (1985), Batman Returns (1992), Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Mars Attacks! (1996), Sleepy Hollow (1999), Planet of the Apes (2001), Big Fish (2003), Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (2005), Alice in Wonderland (2010) and much more.

It’s the best possible time for Burton to unleash this exhibition onto the world, with his latest effort Alice In Wonderland recently surpassing the $1 Billion Box Office gross mark (at the time of writing this article, the official worldwide tally stands at $1,019,689,394 with an additional $52.4M in DVD sales alone).

To celebrate Tim Burton : The Exhibiton and the release of Alice In Wonderland on DVD, the kind folks over at Disney have given WATCH OUT FOR | MOVIES readers a sneak peak at some very cool concept artwork image from Dermot Power.
