A brand new batch of flicks are now playing on Australian screens and, as usual, you can’t for the life of you work out which one you want to see and why. Well, that’s not your job is it… it’s ours!
So to save you the hassle and pain of thinking, we have the WATCH OUT FOR | MOVIES – THIS WEEK IN AUSTRALIAN CINEMAS…. It’s a nifty weekly round up which gives you a quick, easy guide as to what to race out to see – and what to avoid like a Laura Linney movie.
The big question is – what is good, what is crap, what will make you cry and what will (most importantly) allow you to get to second or (if you are lucky) third base with that guy or gal you’ve been crushing on all month long.

Percy Jackson is Harry Potter?
We know you don’t have time to trawl through the newspapers – so WATCH OUT FOR | MOVIES is happy to do all the leg work for you, giving you the Ins and Outs, the Hits and Misses of Movies hitting Australian screens for the week of February 11th 2010.
A Prophet
Starring : Tahar Rahim & Niels Arestrup. Director : Jacques Audiard
Condemned to six years in prison, Malik El Djebena, part Arab, part Corsican, cannot read or write. Arriving at the jail entirely alone, he appears younger and more fragile than the other convicts.
A Prophet is an intense and rewarding film experience, with plenty of shocks and a few laughs definitely check this one out! [ READ THE FULL REVIEW HERE ]
WATCH OUT FOR | HIT PICK The Wolfman
Starring : Benecio del Toro & Sir Anthony Hopkins. Director : Joe Johnston
Inspired by the classic Universal Pictures film that launched the legacy of horror, The Wolfman reclaims the myth of a man whose curse transforms him into something less than human.
This is a MONSTER MOVIE after all. The punters want to see havoc wreaked on innocent towns people… and by gum, The Wolfman delivers that in spades. [ READ THE FULL REVIEW HERE ]
Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief
Starring : Logan Lerman & Uma Thurman. Director: Chris Columbus
It’s the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson’s Greek mythology texts and into his life.
While consistently entertaining (if not slightly dumbed down) and amazingly slick throughout it’s near two hour running time (think of it as the National Treasure to Harry Potter’s Indiana Jones), there is something “pre-packaged” and “soul-less” about this one. [ READ FULL REVIEW HERE ]
Valentine’s Day
Starring : Ashton Kutcher & Julia Roberts. Director: Garry Marshall
From the director of Pretty Woman comes a day in the life of love. Valentine’s Day follows the intertwining storylines of a group of Los Angelinos as they find their way through romance over the course of one Valentine’s Day.
If I were Richard Curtis, I would be heading straight over to the Court – O – Law and demanding some of that sweet “Copyright Infringement” cash owed to him, because Valentine’s Day has well and truly stolen more than just the concept of Love… Actually, a whole lot more. [ READ FULL REVIEW HERE ]
My Name Is Khan
