The Wire is by far the most frequently recommended piece of DVD viewing I’ve ever come across. Yes, you’ll get the occasional “You gotta see Arrested Development” or “How funny is Scrubs?”… but never in my life has the phrase “You HAVE TO watch The Wire” been spurted in my direction less that five times a day.
And you know what… I still haven’t managed to get around to watching it.
Why? Well, it could have something to do with the fact that the two times I’ve accidently flicked over to it on TV, the exact same scene was playing out… the scene in which one guy literally kicks the head in of another guy.
A scene of unconscious pummeling that goes on for a good 120 seconds or so. But – I can see why some people would be into that…

However, this little viral vid (which has been seen over 240,000 times) might just swing me around. It’s a selection of the Top 100 Quotes from The Wire the “greatest TV show ever made”, and features Omar, Bubbles, Bunk, McNulty, Rawls, Stringer, Avon, Snoop, Marlo, Cheese, Prop Joe, Clay Davis and many many more.
Now, I should warn you, this does contain spoilers from all five seasons and has more swearing throughout it than a set from the Def Comedy Jam!
WATCH OUT FOR
Just the ingenious swear words that have been created – my favourite is “C**t Hair”. However, according to fans, there is one line missing from the Top 100… and that is “God dammit Ziggy, you sick f**k, get your d**k out of my computer!”.
