When it comes to under-rated Hollywood stars, they don’t get any better than David Duchovny. The guy is pretty much hilarious in everything he does – yet he has failed to find a single outlet (bar The X-Files and, to an extent Californication) that has allowed him to break through into the big leagues.
The Joneses looks like yet another Duchovny gem (much like the quickly forgotten, but EXCELLENT, The TV Set) that is destined to please the few who actually find it.
In it, Demi Moore and David Duchovny star as a seemingly perfect couple who, along with their equally perfect teenagers – Amber Heard (Zombieland, Pineapple Express) and Ben Hollingsworth (The Beautiful Life) – move into an upscale gated community.
The Joneses have better goods and game than any other family in town. The only problem is they’re not a family – they are employees of a stealth marketing organization, and they know how to make everyone else want what they’ve got.
It’s a biting satire that is a perfect vehicle for Mulder’s dead-pan charm… but let’s face facts… it ain’t going to be pulling in Avatar cash any time soon.
