If this took place over say ten minutes that’d be fine, but this is a slow, ponderous film that seems to think we want to spend time exploring every two dimensional cliché as it lurches onto the screen instead of racing by them to the next one.

Where the film falters unnecessarily is in the multiple knocks to homosexuality and Christianity that really serve no purpose to the story of the film’s characters. Wigg’s Ruth Buggs discovers her faith was misguided but the Christian jokes continue, with most being completely unfunny; while two rednecks continually appear for the sole purpose of calling Graeme and Clive gay.
