SYN Coldest 100 Countdown : The Full 2010 List

There has always been one day of the year where around 80% of Australians gather around a radio and help countdown a definitive list of 100 Awesome Songs as voted by listeners.
Now, there are 2 days for such an event… One of those counts down the most popular and outstanding tracks of the year, the other is SYN’s Coldest 100 Countdown.
Starting as an idea for a radio sketch, the idea grew into a full 9 hour radio marathon event [Listen To Selected Highlights Here], counting down the 100 songs that you never hear on radio any more. One hit wonders, forgotten classics, obscure tracks, you name it…SYN played it.

SYN FM COLDEST 100 : WORLD SHITTEST SONGS
The countdown was produced and hosted by SYNners Jackie Doran & Leon Sjogren (that’s me!!) and was full of nostalgia, music trivia, some fantastic tunes and unfortunately some pretty shite tunes too, but that was the idea. Votes were gathered through SYN’s website and right here at Watch Out For, and no matter what song it was, as long as it had enough votes, it got played…
That’s how Daryl Somers & Ossie Ostrich’s song ‘Im Gonna Be An Engineer ‘ made it to #23!
For those who missed the countdown, here is the complete list of songs:

After the countdown, we contacted The Presidents of the United States, (the band, not the actual presidents, it would be a logistical nightmare) Band member Jason Finn was ecstatic that they were Number 1 in such a trivial countdown and offered to chat to us in the coming weeks (WATCH THIS SPACE!)
After such a successful first running of the event, it’s safe to say that the Coldest 100 will return next year.
Bigger…Better…and with less Baha-Men.
A big thanks to everyone involved in the first ever Coldest 100 : 90.7 SYN FM, WATCH OUT FOR and Jackie Doran! See you in 2011!
