Call me crazy, but in a post-Dark Knight and Iron Man world the Spider-Man franchise is starting to feel like the nerdy cousin at the Christmas party. Sure, it paved the way for the genre, but am I really the only one who is willing to go out on a limb and say… (*whispers*) “The Spider-Man movies were a bit… boring”?
Hell… even the James Cameron’s Aquaman movie out-grossed it (on that fateful 40 degree day… oh, Ari Gold, how irresponsible of you to drive home from that high school party with Vinnie & Co). But I digress.
The powers that be are looking to take Spidey for another spin and Bad Taste have finally been able to confirm who will be battling poor old Peter Parker… The Vulture.

John Malkovich to play The Vulture in Spider-Man 4
In an interview with Italian TV the creepiest man in Hollywood, John Malkovich (who I’m still convinced would have delivered just as chilling an interpretation of The Joker as Heath Ledger), revealed that he was “Waiting for the final script to be sent” to him, and that the “Movie has been delayed” but “Hopes that shooting will begin as soon as possible”.
Rumours are also floating around that Sony are again pushing for a two villain story (they famously forced Raimi to include Venom in Spider-Man 3 despite the director’s protests) and that Sony are keen on the inclusion of Black Cat (rumoured to be played by Rachel McAdams). However, all of this speculation has gone into further over-drive with the announcement of a Spider-Man reboot which will take place during Peter Parker’s High School years [Read The Full Story Here].
Think about it from the Sony marketing team’s perspective… who would you rather see running around in tighty tights : Rachel McAdams… or a balding man with a wonky eye? Hmmmm. Let’s see what you think after you’ve seen the video below…
