Rocketsmiths – A Shot At The Seat : Single Reviews

In line with a rich history of mixing piano/synth and guitars successfully by Australian bands, Brisbane nutters the Rocketsmiths give us A Shot At The Seat; an energy-fuelled concoction of up-beat dance and indie-pop that no doubt has an interesting sub-text given that we are in the midst of an electoral campaign.

Rocketsmiths are VERY close.
A Shot At The Seat has everything from a cutting drum pattern draped in a driving bass line, and nicely layered with guitar, quirky, yet far from inappropriate synth presence and rousing and spirited vocals.
As a song, it is catchy enough, managing to fuse a whole range of European dance-pop influences with a deeper Australian sense of the abstract. But the thing I find most tantalising is the sign of things to come, with the new album, The Bones, due out late August. If you want to check out some great new music, then I suggest you look no further than our own doorstep.
