Whether you love or hate what Ricky Gervais has made of his career since hitting the bigtime in Hollywood with duds like Ghost Town and The Invention Of Lying you simply can’t deny the guy still knows how to make the funny.
However, in my opinion, he is at his best when he works side-by-side with his The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant (easily the most under-rated comic performer of the decade).
Ricky Gervais : Ultimate Wank
The two have re-teamed several times for Comic Relief (which brings together some of the UKs biggest comedy stars including The Mighty Boosh, Rowan Atkinson and Monty Python) over the years, usually taking aim at Gervais’ inflated ego, however the 2009 edition is possibly their best yet.
It follows a group of do-gooders who plan to raise money for Comic Relief by putting on The Office : The Opera… all they need now is permission from the shows two world famous writers to use the material.
Obviously… things don’t go as planned.
WATCH OUT FOR
Ricky Gervais’ roll-on entrance into the rehersal hall… one of the finest example of self-depreciating humour taken to a whole new level.
