R.I.P Jay Reatard : Music News

Memphis garage-punk Jay Reatard has been found dead in his home, aged twenty-nine.

It has been reported that Jay died in his sleep. More details are forthcoming.

Better known as Jimmie Lee Lindsey, Jay was famed for his high-energy, down-to-earth musicianship and rambunctious live performances. His most recent album, Watch Me Fall, was released to critical acclaim last year on Matador Records.

A statement from Matador reads: “Jay was as full of life as anyone we’ve ever met, and responsible for so many memorable moments as a person and artist. We’re honored to have known and worked with him, and we will miss him terribly.”

It is yet another terrible loss to the world of music, especially after the death of Rowland S Howard earlier in the year, but that’s the music biz. For those not familiar with Reatard, check out the clip below…
