Piranha 3D – For Your Consideration (Funny or Die) : Viral Video

When it comes to funny viral videos, Will Ferrell and his pals over at Funny Or Die have got it down to a fine art. Not only do these puppies get viewing numbers in the hundreds of thousands, they are also damn funny.
Their latest is a star studded affair, “Piranha 3D – For Your Consideration“, which once again proves that traditional forms of advertising aren’t always the best. After all, are you going to see a movie based on some lame trailer – or will you go see a movie based on the fact that it’s own cast members are quite happily taking the piss out of it.
The concept of Piranha 3D [Read our Movie Review here] is no more crazy than the concept behind having to campaign for Oscars (they’re all decided under the table with cheque books anyway, right?) so this is a perfect melding of two extremes : shit and Hollywood idiocy.
“Hollywood treasure” Jerry O’Connell (who really has been dead to me since Tomcats) leads the pack with a plea to the Academy (Playmate Kelly Brook pops up, as does Human Giant‘s Paul Scheer) to give Piranha 3D some award recognition.
The highlights come from Adam Scott (who kicks some ass in Party Down, a show that you must see before you die) who delivers the videos most compelling arguments including “Why stop at Best Picture? Why not Best Penis Being Gobbled and Spit Out in 3D?” and “You nominated Ghost for Best Picture. I mean, give me a fucking break!”.
As crazy as this campaign sounds… web power got Betty White both host SNL and a lead role in Hot In Cleveland – whose to say the makers of Piranha 3D won’t be holding a golden statue come Oscar time?
