Everyone’s favourite 90’s European dance kings The Pet Shop Boys have decided to bestow upon us a five track ‘Christmas’ EP , which includes a cover of Coldplay’s highly catchy (and partly Satriani derived) ‘Viva La Vida’.
2009 has been quite a productive year for the Pet Shop Boys who have reached their highest UK and USA album chart positions in the past fifteen years. Add to this list their win of Outstanding Contribution to Music award at this year’s BRITs, the two British performers who told everyone to ‘Go West’ in the most unbelievably catchy of ways are enjoying a well-timed resurgence of sorts.
As they continue to play to packed audiences on their current world tour, the release of the EP (the very appropriately titled, Christmas) showcases a small, but very substantial mix of remixes, covers and material only ever heard by the most die-hard Pet Shop Boys fan club members.
Now that they’ve finally decided to let you have a listen, you’d better listen in!
