WHATS IT ABOUT
Freddy Krueger returns in A Nightmare on Elm Street, the latest “contemporary re-imagining” of Wes Craven’s the horror classic that made Johnny Depp and Robert Englund household names.
As was the case in the original, a group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another – but when they sleep, there is no escape.
WHATS THE BUZZ
Touching cult classic films, especially ones with such iconic characters as Freddy Krueger is always going to be a very hit or miss affair. Word from the set has been relatively good, although if it turns out like the totally vacant and hollow Friday The 13th remake from earlier in the year… director Samuel Bayer (who helemed Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit and Green Day’s Boulevard of Broken Dreams film clips) may have a riot on his hands.

WATCH OUT FOR
Watchmen’s Jackie Earle Haley donning Freddy’s trademark fedora, red-and-green striped sweater, burnt up features and four-bladed glove.
While no one will ever get close to being as creepy as Robert Englund (who IS and always WILL BE Freddy), if there was ever an actor with enough cred and creepiness to do the role justice – it’d have to be Rorschach
THE TRAILER…
A Nightmare On Elm Street will creep into American Theatres on April 30, 2010
