The Alien and Predator franchises are two suckers which just won’t lay down and die – and believe me, after the woeful mess that was Alien vs Predator : Requiem most of us REALLY wanted them to just disappear – but that won’t stop the powers that be giving it one more try.
There is already a Predator reboot filming in Hawaii as we speak starring Adrien Brody (thanks for the heads up from Clint at Moviehole on that one) produced by Sin City director Robert Rodriguez and is set to be sequel set after the events of the first two films.
It was also recently announced that the folks behind Alien (including it’s director Ridley Scott) would also be heading back to the origins of the characters. Many assumed the story would follow the events recently preceding those of the first film, but the folks over at Empire have heard differently.

Alien : The Prequel
In a recent interview with Ridley Scott, it has been revealed that the Alien prequel with be “… A brand new box of tricks”. Scott went onto say, “We know what the road map is… The prequel will be [set] a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but… if [the original] Alien film was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”
It’s an almost fool-proof way of avoiding having to sign Sigourney Weaver on to star (as it is a role she has been hesitant to return to lately) and gives producers a good thirty years worth of time-line to completely rebuild the franchise and create new iconic heroes.
But how much do you want to bet they will bow to audience requests and give Ripley a bit of a look in…
