The countdown is on to one of the biggest action movie franchise moves of all time – Mission Impossible 4 : Ghost Protocol [Watch the Amazing Trailer Here] sees the passing of the torch from Tom Cruise (Ethan Hunt) to Jeremy Renner (Guy who was in the one good movie then nothing else).
It is a huge call. It wasn’t until I revisited all three Mission Impossible movies on Blu Ray (for the record, JJ Abrams’ M:I3 is one of the most under rated action films of all time, it’s flawless) that I realised just how much of a cinematic powerhouse Tom Cruise is. Forget all that “Cruise is the new Michael Jackson” stuff – this guy is the real deal when it comes to capturing your attention on screen.
Jeremy Renner, on the other hand, had a decent sized role in The Hurt Locker but has failed to really break out as a star (that I’m sure Marvel are hoping he will be as Hawkeye in The Avengers) and – to be honest – is just a bit of a dull forgettable face. Either way – he’s got his own character poster as has Simon Pegg and hotty Paula Patton.
