Hold onto your pants teenage boys, perves and assorted lovers of baps – because Robert Rodriguez’s Machete just got a whole lot sexier, with wild child Lindsay Lohan set to unleash her 22-year-old bod as a gun-toting socialite.
HollywoodLife.com revealed today that Lindsay Lohan is “slated to get wet and naked while swimming in a waterfall with Alicia Rachel Marek, 34, who plays her mother, June”. The scene is an extension of the “Topless Scene” shown in the mock trailer [which you can watch at the bottom of this article].
In other Machete new, Fox Studios has won a fierce bidding war (with a reported six other studios including Sony, Lionsgate, Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount, and The Weinstein Co) for the distribution rights to Machete, the feature film spawned by Robert Rodriguez’s infamous fake trailer from the Box Office flop Grindhouse.
For those who haven’t seen the fake trailer (you can watch that puppy below this new fangled “text”), which has now been seen over 1.4 million times on YouTube, the flick follows the tale of a Mexican day laborer (played by Rodriguez favourite Danny Trejo) who is set up, double-crossed, left for dead… and then starts mowing down people.

According to Deadline, all six interested studios “screened about 15 to 30 minutes of footage”, with Rodriguez’s agent Robert Newman asking for “$9 million upfront, no P&A commitment but the guarantee of a wide release, and a big backend gross participation for Rodriguez… in the 10%-12% neighborhood”.
The report goes onto reveal that “Both Fox and Paramount said yes, and then in an unusual move, Newman went back to the two studios and asked for more gross percentage and an overall production deal for Rodriguez… Paramount balked, so did Fox… but Fox reminded everyone that it was already very much in the Robert Rodriguez business making Predators, and Tom Rothman really wanted him to have a home there… so a deal was clinched”.
It is common knowledge now that, aware of the buzz, Rodriguez made the fake trailer into a real movie outside the studio system, indie financing Machete with $20 million by selling international rights to Sony. It is also set to be a whose who of Hollywood, with an amazing cast including Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Danny Trejo and even Jonah Hill.
The flick will very much be in the vein of the Grindhouse genre classics which inspired it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Machete turns out to be just as “cult” as Grindhouse itself – both in terms of content and success.
However, from where we stand, any movie with the tagline “They just fucked with the wrong Mexican!” has pretty much guaranteed our ticket purchase.
Enough of this jibber-jabber, let’s check out the trailer which inspired it all!
