Iron Fist will be the next Marvel comics character to head to the big screen, joining the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and The Avengers in a never ending revamp of all things superhero.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios “moving forward on a live action feature version of Iron Fist” at a steady rate, having hired screenwriter Rich Wilkes (who penned the Vin Diesal xXx movie) to “draft a movie based on a martial arts expert whose battle with a dragon turned his fists into indestructible weapons”.
Iron Fist is one of many Marvel properties currently in development (after Disney spent upwards of $4 Billion for Marvel’s superhero catalogue comprising of over 5000 characters).
This list of heroes includes big names like X-Men, Spider-Man, Ghost Rider and The Fantastic Four – as well as smaller characters like Dr. Strange (currently being penned by Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer), Runaways and Ant-Man (which is rumoured to be helmed by Scott Pilgrim visionary Edgar Wright).

This isn’t the first time Iron Fist has been pushed towards the big screen, with Marvel attempting to “make an Iron Fist movie with Artisan nearly a decade ago, as a vehicle for X-Men villain and martial arts expert Ray Park”.
Thankfully that movie never got up – meaning we might be able to enjoy the new Iron Fist with the same quality and continuity Marvel Studios is currently churning out. It’s a new era of cinema kids, enjoy it while it lasts!
At least it will be better than this dodgy fan junk…
