After taking his one-man project to Australia and the rest of the world with great success, albums like Boardface, Like Drawing Blood, and remix album Mixed Blood have become synonymous with quality independent production, and have forged a long-standing relationship with audiences who were simply left waiting for more.

Earlier in 2010, WOF | MUSIC caught up with Wally De Backer to discuss how his plans for a new album were coming along, as well as a whole bunch of other exciting details.
When discussing the level of sampling and production, Wally had this to offer:
“Some people ask me, ‘Don’t you feel like you need to play on your album?’. But for me, the experience of creating is as much about what you hear back in your little creative ideas and spurts of energy you put into creating stuff.”
He added ” With the new stuff I’ve been trying to write there are a handful of songs that I’ve written at the piano…more traditionally from chords and melody as a starting point. I’m probably writing more condensed pop-format stuff.”
And in true Gotye form, he enlightened us as to what sounds he possibly wanted to encapsulate on the new record:
“Sometimes I’ve thought maybe I just need to make and instrumental/sample-based album with no vocals and just go in a different direction.”
Yet, this idea was quickly nullified with precise comic timing:
“…but I haven’t done that. I’ve got at least half a record of vocal based pop-music”.
