Is there anything sexier than sitting in a park on a balmy summers afternoon with an esky and some tunes?

The answer is NO for you people playing at home, and thankfully it is now that time of year for Feskyval to roll around.

Wait, what? Feskyval? Yes, the festival where instead of paying $10 for 1 drink you can bring an esky full of whatever the hell you like, and more importantly, where instead of putting $160 into the pockets of crazy-ish US musicians, you put $29 in to Kids Under Cover – a charity that assists homeless kids.

Feskyval began 5 years ago in the backyard of Sam and Jesse Drummond – two twenty-something brothers who missed out on Golden Plains tickets.

Instead of moping around the house mumbling “I’m glad we’re not there!” they threw a festival themselves – complete with a playlist of their favourite artists and audience applause in between.

“In hindsight, the whole thing was maybe a bit sad, but we had so much fun that we threw another Feskyval the following year but actually invited people” says Sam.

“Everyone brought an esky, we had a mate play an acoustic set in the backyard and people enjoyed the day so much we were encouraged to keep doing it. And why not just get bigger and better?”

Bigger and better indeed. Feskyval is now held in CERES Environment Park in Brunswick and with several hundred people attending last year, more tickets are being sold in 2012.

Along with your own esky packed with whatever you like, the Feskyval bar will be operating with quality drinks at decent prices and also a BBQ with some sizzling snags. Again, all money goes straight in to Kids Under Cover. Have you ever had a better reason to drink?!

The Feskyval 2012 lineup includes :

Skipping Girl Vinegar

Texture Like Sun

Georgia Fields

Hiding with Bears

Plus George McEncroe and Tony Moclair will act as MCs.

Oh, and did we mention the annual esky race, best dressed esky and possibly some Zumba action?

Feskyval is on this Saturday 25th February from 2pm to around 8pm. So bring your picnic blanket (and possibly a Frisbee), pack your esky and prepare yourself for one of the most relaxing and fun days of the year.

Tickets are on sale at Feskyval.com for $29+BF or at the door for $35 if available.
