Empire Of The ARIA’s : Music News

Watching the ARIA’s last night, almost every single person was pondering the same three things.
The first of which was ‘Is Luke Steele wearing a Polar Bear on his shoulders?’ The second was ‘Surely the ARIA award itself is not the most appropriately shaped award to give award a collection of drug-induced musicians, is it?’
And finally, when are those in charge of the ARIA awards going to take themselves seriously and acknowledge decent music, and stop pedalling crap? Seriously, how did Jessica Mauboy receive so many nominations???

Empire Of The Sun : Their keen fashion sense has won them fans all over the globe - their music is alright too!
The night wasn’t a complete disaster, however. There were a lot of deserving winners (bitterly disappointed The Drones didn’t win an award for anything though).
If you had not heard, the night was all about Empire Of The Sun, whose four ARIA awards has awarded Luke Steele his rightful place in Australia’s decorated musical history.
Delighting the crowd with a rousing performance of ‘Walking On A Dream with a spectacular set design of blue pillars and an enormous sun, the Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore project ended up with Album of The Year, Single Of The Year, Best Group and Best Pop Release.
Added to the list of conquests, the guys also picked up three ARIA Artisan Awards recently for Best Cover Art, Best Video and Producer of the Year.
Capping the night off was the delightfully bizarre acceptance speeches, where he managed to thanks the good Lord a handful of times, make the audience applaud his wife (who oddly resembled Steele in many ways), and provide one of the most awkward on-stage moments we’ve seen in a long time involving both Rove and Robbie Williams. Not a bad night at all!
