Sydney five-piece Deep Sea Arcade have given us one of the finest singles of the year with their throwback to the garage rock days of the 60′s, Lonely In Your Arms.
At first it’s far too easy to dismiss Lonely In Your Arms as just another song awaiting pick-up and be flaunted by Apple for their new ‘i-pod – micro’. Yet it’s not until you pay attention to the subtle additions that make up this extremely catchy piece of sensible pop fun that it really begins to establish itself.

Deep Sea Arcade
Beginning with an ultra-cool surf guitar riff and simple bass / drum accompaniment, Nic Mckenzie’s reverberated and doubled-over vocals cut into your cerebrum, with it’s soaring choral lyrics “I could be lonely in your arms” managing to linger for quite a while after you’ve stopped listening.
It’s pop music at it’s finest. It’s verse-chorus partnership instills a quaint charm, whilst the bridge provides a liberal dose of well-structured rock, that points to genuine songwriting proficiency.
Although it’s not going to be the first single lifted off your summer soundtrack, it will serve as a fine lead-in. Get into this fine young Australian band before everyone else does!
