Cypress Hill – It Ain’t Nothin’ : Single Reviews

Making the world bounce one track at a time, it is no wonder that Latino hip-hop gods, Cypress Hill, have firmly placed themselves as one of the greatest hip-hop acts to ever grace the world stage.

Tracks such as (Rock) Superstar, How I Could Just Kill A Man and – probably their most famous song – Insane In The Brain, have made them the highly respected act that they are today. And, thus, it seems that Cypress Hill resemble that of a fine, if not slightly ghetto wine: the more mature they get, the better their act becomes.

This year marks the release of their highly anticipated ninth studio album, Rise Up.

Already having released the title track from the album earlier this year, Rise Up – featuring Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello on guitar, the group have released the next single off the record, It Ain’t Nothin’ – featuring Young De.

The track opens with a spoken introduction; one that, it would seem, was done in front of a live audience; the person speaking labelling the band as “futuristic funk, mixed with a die-hard dedication”. These words alone do not give the amount of justice that Cypress Hill deserve, but it comes extremely close.

Automatically beginning with a bounce-friendly beat, the track provokes one image in my mind: cars with hydrolics. Listen to it, and you’ll understand.
