You can’t keep a good horse down, especially a ginger horse with a leigon of devoted fans – which probably explains why Team Coco is about to embark on one of the biggest and most anticipated live comedy tours the world has ever seen.
Despite an NBC exit package clause that states Conan O’Brien can’t appear on TV until September – the clever kids behind the former Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien have managed to find a loop whole… by taking to the live stage with a 32 city tour entitled the “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television” tour.

I'm With Coco
Variety suggests there may be some issues with punters recording the live shows and streaming them online, claiming that “Insiders believe that NBC wouldn’t have much recourse if O’Brien chose not to enforce pirated video of the shows” going so far as to say that “The Peacock could suggest that O’Brien take them down – but can’t make their former employee enforce piracy laws regarding his own intellectual property”.
This means that fans worldwide of the Red Haired Devil could very well be seeing (some fairly dodgy) footage of upwards of 40 new “episodes”.
Variety also reports that while O’Brien can’t host a new show until September, his “deal with NBC allows him to start conducting interviews – both televised and in print – starting May 1″. However “he still can’t make disparaging remarks about NBC”.
What could he possibly have left to say?
The tour is set to launch on April 12 in Eugene, from there he treks to L.A at the Gibson Ampitheater at Universal Citywalk (right near his new-old “Tonight Show” stage – as NBC U “owns the Ampitheater, but don’t operate it”.)
The tour is set to include sidekick, Andy Richter, plus members of the Tonight Show With Conan O’Brien band minus Max Weinberg and will span at least 20 states and two Canadian provinces.
O’Brien has been fairly quiet on the matter, but did leave fans with this teaser… “It was either a massive 30-city tour or start helping around the house”.
Well played Coco, well played.
