Cemetery Junction is Ricky Gervais‘ last legitimate chance to make it in “the moving picture films”. After trying and failing with Ghost Town and The Invention Of Lying, this is without doubt Gervais and his creative partner Stephen Merchant’s last chance to be taken seriously outside of the world of TV.
WHAT’S THE BUZZ
Cemetery Junction is the new film from the creators of The Office and Extras and features a swag of up-and-coming talent plus the likes of Ricky Gervais, Ralph Fiennes, Emily Watson and Matthew Goode.
Set in 1970s England, Cemetery Junction follows the lives of three working-class friends trapped in a small town. They are Freddie (Christian Cooke), Bruce (Tom Hughes) and Snork (Jack Doolan).

When Freddie gets a new job as a door-to-door salesman and bumps into his childhood sweetheart Julie (Felicity Jones), the clan must make decisions that will change their lives forever.
Again, this looks less like a comedy and more like a “depressing life is funny” – something which audiences expecting “comedy” will revolt against in their droves.
WATCH OUT FOR
Stephen Merchant’s tiny cameo, which as usual, will no doubt be the comedic highlight of the movie.
