Poor Moby. He never quite recovered from the commercial success and inevitable backlash against his ubiquitous 1999 album Play (or the resultant tongue-lashing at the hands/tongue of his dear friend Eminem, in Without Me).

A more cynical reviewer might possibly suggest that bravado-heavy nu/rap/alternative metal had its heyday sometime around 1999/2000… and that reviewer may well have a point. But the fan response to Limp Bizkit’s latest offering, Gold Cobra, also suggests that such a reviewer may as well go slurp a latte and chew on a non-soggy Sao.

Destroyer – Kaputt : Album Reviews

istening to Destroyer’s latest, Kaputt, puts the Hurstbridge line in soft focus. You are now in a film noir rock opera. And don’t just take my word for it; the video for the title track seems to visualise the album’s sound with one-piece-clad girls and copious amounts of vaseline on the camera lens. Oh, and the Pyramid and freefalling whales have some dramatic impact too.
