Dante’s Peak (Pierce Brosnan, Linda Hamilton) : Classic Cinema

Dante

So anyway, I reluctantly ended up watching ‘Dante’s Peak’. This film is about this guy, I think his name is Pierce Brosnan or something. Anyway, he’s from that movie where he’s James Bond and that other one where he sings Abba songs to Margaret Thatcher. You know the guy, at least, you’d know him if you saw him.

Notting Hill (Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts) : Classic Cinema

nottinghill

After dinner, Julia and Hugh go for a walk and Hugh demonstrates to Julia that he has no idea how to climb a fence. This is apparently an excellent seduction technique. Ronan Keating sings “You say it best when you say nothing at all” but I guess he must be behind a tree or something, because I never saw him.

Pretty Woman (Richard Gere, Julia Roberts) : Classic Cinema

Pretty Woman

Also Richard talks on a ridiculously large mobile phone, presumably telling everyone that he’s a “top guy”. Meanwhile, George just plays miniature billiards (which is probably some sort of masturbation metaphor).

Dennis the Menace (Walter Matthau, Christopher Lloyd) : Cinema Classic

Dennis The Menace (1993)

Dennis is not just some loveable rascal. I mean, even when he’s playing hide and seek with all the kids in the neighbourhood, he still cheats. Basically, this kid is just a huge asshole and he’s only five.

Home Alone 2 Lost In New York : Classic Cinema

Home Alone 2 : Lost In New York

I recently re-watched ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’ because I had previously erased it from my memory. Well, let me tell you : it was actually pretty great.

Stanley Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove (Peter Sellers, George C. Scott) : Classic Cinema

Dr Strangelove

Strangelove is the, well, oddest character in the film, despite having the honour of the title; aside from his minute part, compared to that of, say, George C. Scott as the cocky, gum-chewing, all-American General Buck Turgidson, Strangelove is seemingly a mad Nazi scientist whose knowledge of nuclear weaponry is presumably the reason he was at the American War Room table at all.

Champions – The Mighty Ducks (Emilio Estevez, Joshua Jackson) : Classic Cinema

Look : This ladder makes no sense as clearly the Cardinals just had a draw with the Ducks. Also, if this ladder was correct, the Flames should be above the Cardinals.

Last night I watched the film ‘Champions’. Many people call this movie ‘The Mighty Ducks’ or ‘Mighty Ducks 1′ or “That Ice Hockey movie”, but to me it will always be ‘Champions’.

Hook (Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman) : Cinema Classics

Hook

Patrick Bosher takes a trip down memory lane with the classic 1990s film HOOK – but things aren’t as rosey as we all thought they might be.

Singin in the Rain (Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds) : Cinema Classic

Singin

Where other films may fall or fail to reach their respective marks, Singin’ in the Rain shines and dazzles like nobody’s business. I confess, you may- will- find this review a tad biased; I will be waxing very complimentary, possibly near sycophantic, you may think- if you’re a jerk like that- on the film because it truly is my favourite of all-time. And here’s why.
