With voting for the first annual SYN FM COLDEST 100 COUNTDOWN [you can get your vote in here] heating up, we’d thought we would check out some of the best of the nominees so far.

Blessid Union of Souls (sometimes abbreviated to Blessid Union) is an American band from Ohio and was formed in 1990 by friends Jeff Pence and Eliot Sloan.

Their first studio album, “Home”, found limited success with lead single, “I Believe”. However, it wasn’t until their third album, “Walking Off the Buzz”,  that things kicked in to gear for ‘The Union as it spawned the hit single “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)” which peaked at #33 on the Billboard Music Charts.

It describes how a man knows his girlfriend likes him regardless of his possessions or physical traits. It was also a mid-90s classic (a favourite on “Rick Dee and the Weekly Top Fourty”) that pops up on more than one ocassion on the various mix-tapes locked away in my bedroom cupboard.

After the release of their greatest-hits album, “Blessid Union of Souls : The Singles” (which, according to fans, was actually more a collection of outtakes and B-sides than actual hits), they released their sixth album, “Close to the Edge”, which was released in 2008.

It’s a kick-ass tune, and one that well deserves votes in the 2010 Coldest Countdown – VOTE HERE.
