Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you to stop what you’re doing…and listen!

CAAANNONBAAAALLL!
If you just yelled out “Cannonball”, then you, like myself have probably watched Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy more than 94 times, which makes this difficult to write. It seems that the long awaited Anchorman 2 may not go ahead after recent reignited interest in Hollywood…This is kind of a big deal.
It’s the idea that’s been on and off again more than Jennifer Aniston’s relationships…a sequel to the 2004 suprise hit Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy. At first Will Ferrell and Director Adam Mckay were against it but a few years back word spread that both would be keen if they could get all the cast back together and write a decent script. But by this time, getting the Anchorman news crew back together became increasingly difficult since the film had helped launch the careers of the cast (Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Paul Rudd) and Christina Applegate’s battle with Cancer.
Good news was delivered a few weeks ago when director Adam Mckay announced on Twitter that the cast was all set to sign on to a sequel and were willing to take a significant pay cut to keep the film budget to a considerable amount, and in an interview with MTV Mckay also revealed clues about the script:
“If Paramount does fork over some money, the idea is to finish a script this year and be ready to shoot by February 2011. The story as it currently stands would be set in the ’80s, but there are other ideas at play, the ’80s angle is more the frame of it,” says McKay. “We have this other, bigger, crazier idea that’s really more what it’s about, which I can’t say.”
The thought of Ron and Co. walking the streets in 80′s gear gets me excited enough to have a pants party, then came the shocking news that sent Anchorman fans running to their nearest phonebox to have a spazzy fit of their own.

Anchorman fans were in a glass case of emotion
Mckay posted on his Twitter “So bummed. Paramount basically passed on Anchorman 2. Even after we cut our budget down. We tried” he then added “To all who asked: no we can’t do Anchorman 2 at another studio. Paramount owns it.” All we can do now is pray that Hollywood executives stop being smelly pirate hookers, go back to their home on whore island and rethink their crazy decision.
That’s all from me tonight at the WOF desk, Go F#*k yourself San Diego.
Oh, and if you can’t get enough of Anchorman, check out “Wake Up Ron Burgundy”…it’s the unoficial sequel made entirely from deleted scenes. It is definitely worth a look at.
