Avatar Roundtable With James Cameron & Sam Worthington : Movie News

Unless you were born under a rock the size of Joe Hockey’s under-derps (to early to call? Win or lose, he is still chubby… so I think we’re safe with that), Avatar is James Cameron’s brand new, 10-Years-In-The-Making, $500 million dollar budgeted, follow up to Titanic. It is getting closer and closer to hitting screens and hype for the flick is  – supposedly – quite high.

Call me sceptical – but I just don’t think $500 million worth of movie going punters are as excited to see it as we are being made to believe. I don’t doubt there are SOME people who can’t wait to check it out, even $200M worth… but it’s going to need some Twilight sized buzz to make its cash back… and at the moment, the only heat this is generating is coming from Clash Of The Titans star Sam Worthington’s ham & cheese toastie. And a fine toastie it is.

However, for those who simply can’t wait to get their eyes in on the action, MTV are set to help you out when they present a “live webcast of a roundtable with director James Cameron” on December 3 as a prelude to a half-hour television special the network will air later in the month (in the States – Aussie screening TBA).

Australia’s Sam Worthington (who is just awesome, one of the best guys to represent our country you could ever hope for – I want Avatar to be big just to ensure he keeps on making movies, he is that good) and Zoe Saldana  will join Avatar producer Jon Landau and director James Cameron  (who will be hoping to out-do the record breaking take of AquaMan… that was real, right?) on the webcast, to be moderated by MTV News.

We are informed that the half an hour event will feature unseen footage from the movie, also will “be shown on the Avatar Facebook fan page, with fans able to submit questions at either site”.

The TV special, part of MTV’s Behind the Screen series, will air December 16, with the movie set to hit screens in Australia a day later. If you haven’t seen the impressive CGI heavy trailer – check it out below… You can also read our FULL AVATAR REVIEW HERE.
