Our Spidey-Senses are tingling, and with good reason! Fear not dear readers, your many sleepless nights spent wondering who will play Spider-Man in the Sony Pictures reboot has now come to an end as it was revealed that 26-year-old LA born, English raised Andrew Garfield will don the webbed suit [Check Out The New Spider-Man Costume Here].

Already people are commenting on Garfield’s age as the reboot is said to be marketed to a younger audience, with a high school aged Peter Parker – Smallville style.

With the release date set for July 3rd 2012 we have almost 2 years to the day to contemplate the casting choice, which is already being hailed a mistake by many. But, let’s give the guy a break – after all – he has just inherited a $2 Billion franchise… he would be SHITTING himself!

The Spider-Man reboot (which of course will be in 3D!) will be directed by Marc Webb, who gave us the delightful 2009 romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer, with production currently set to begin in December.

“Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor’s work understand his extraordinary talents… He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity” Webb said of Garfield recently.

More announcements will be made over the coming months for supporting cast, but in the mean time, you can check out Garfield’s acting chops in the Red Riding trilogy, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Boy A, or later this year in the highly anticipated The Social Network and Never Let Me Go.

Most importantly – he’s appeared in Doctor Who at least once (which is the British version of Australia’s Neighbours, in that “Every actor, by law, must appear in it at least once”).

What do you think about this casting news – Will Garfield make a good Spider-man?
